The Golf Champion Trophy, better known as the Claret Jug, will be in play for the first time since 2019 from Thursday July 15 to Open Championship 2021. Crafted in silver, measuring 20 3/4 inches tall and weighing approximately 5 1/2 pounds, the Claret Jug is engraved with the winner’s name each year shortly before being presented to the Golf Champion of the Year. Shane Lowry captured the jug in 2019 and has held it since the cancellation of the 2020 tournament due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lowry is listed as a repeat 40-1 longshot according to the latest 2021 Open Championship odds from William Hill Sportsbook. Recent US Open champion Jon Rahm is the favorite at 9-1, while former Open champion Rory McIlroy is 11-1 on the PGA odds table. Before locking down your picks for the Open Championship 2021, be sure to view the latest golf predictions and projected rankings from SportsLine’s proven computer model.

SportsLine’s exclusive model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been on fire since the PGA Tour resumed last June. In fact, he’s risen by over $ 9,000 on his best bets since the restart, pinning tournament after tournament.

At the 2021 US Open, McClure’s role model everywhere was Jon Rahm’s first career major league win at 10-1 from the start. Rahm was within two shots of the lead heading into the weekend, but the model was still projecting him as the winner at that point. The result: Rahm birdied the 17th and 18th holes in a spectacular fashion to send his fans straight to the payout window. At the Masters 2021, McClure netted Rahm’s top five (+250) in his best bets, as well as Corey Conners’ top 10 (+550). McClure’s best bets brought the Masters over $ 450.

Plus, McClure was all over Daniel Berger’s victory at +1,400 in his best bets at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February. McClure also won Viktor Hovland (+2,500) at the Mayakoba Golf Classic in December. It was one of the many huge calls he has made over the past few months.

This same model also nailed seven huge majors entering the weekend. Everyone who has followed him has seen massive returns.

Now that the field for the 2021 Open Championship is taking shape, SportsLine has simulated the event 10,000 times and the results have been surprising. Head over to SportsLine now to see the planned 2021 Open Championship standings and 2021 Open Championship expert picks.

The model’s best predictions for the Open Championship 2021

A major surprise the model calls for at the Open Championship 2021: Bryson DeChambeau, a major champion and one of the top favorites, is fighting mightily to not even make the top 10. DeChambeau was one of the players. hottest touring this season, finishing first at the 2020 US Open and Arnold Palmer Invitational.

The eight-time PGA Tour champion continues to smash the ball off the tee, averaging over 320 yards per haul, ranking him number one on the tour. DeChambeau’s length off the tee also placed him in the top 15 for average birdies, average scores and shots won from tee to green.

However, DeChambeau is hitting less than 55% of fairways off the tee this season, which can cause a lot of trouble during a major championship. His inability to find the fairway off the tee has caused DeChambeau to finish outside the top 25 in five of his last seven starts. He is not a good choice to win it all and there are much better values in the field of the Open Championship 2021.

Another surprise: Louis Oosthuizen, a 28-1 long shot, had a solid title race. He has a much better chance of winning it all than his odds suggest, so he’s a target for anyone looking for a huge paycheck. The affable South African narrowly missed out on double his US Open winning tally and is expected to be in the same position at Royal St. George’s.

Oosthuizen was there until the end at Torrey Pines, shooting a first lap 67 and finishing one stroke off winner Jon Rahm. The 38-year-old veteran also finished second at the PGA Championship earlier this spring and has already earned more than $ 4.9 million in 2020-21. Best player on the PGA Tour in strokes won on putting, Oosthuizen has all the tools necessary to complete his 2010 Open Championship in St. Andrews by winning the title this year.

How to make picks for the 2021 Open Championship

The model is also targeting five other golfers with 2021 Open Championship odds of 20-1 or higher who make a surprising run, including two massive long strokes over 35-1 that would earn any bettor an epic paycheck. Anyone who supports these underdogs could strike hard. You can only see them here.

So who will win the Open Championship 2021? And what long shots stun the golf world? Check the odds below, then visit SportsLine to see the planned 2021 Open Championship standings, all from the model that won seven major golf tournaments, including Jon Rahm’s epic victory at the US Open.
